As you probably know by now, my name is Adriana and I am a stay at home mom and Army wife. I am married to the most amazing man and have two brainiacs for children who make me very proud. Being an Army wife isn't easy and I'm glad we had Skype this past deployment. It's so hard not to see the person you love so much for a year or so. I am a born and bred Texan, I love this great state and I don't imagine myself anywhere else. Except maybe an island in the caribbean.
Before I started blogging, I taught bilingual pre-kinder, bilingual kindergarten, ESL Kindergarten and 1st grade for 10yrs so you'll notice that I don't use fancy words in my blog and sometimes I won't use the correct punctuation. That's what happens when you speak to five year olds for almost all of your adult life and hardly have adult interaction; after all, I was teaching basic sentence structure like, "I like pizza" for so long, it sort of sticks.
I love the Caribbean and my wish would be to visit every island before I die. Maybe if I stopped buying makeup I would be able to do that ;). I love snorkeling and looking at all the beautiful creatures that live along the coral reefs. My absolute favorite place in the world is Playa Del Carmen in Mexico. It is just so gorgeous and I love the people. I've been to other places in the Caribbean that are far more expensive and they don't hold a candle to this place. Nothing matches the breathtaking clarity of the water here and the soft sandy beaches feel great on my feet.
Another passion of mine is running, I have to admit I haven't had time to do it as much as I like since giving birth to my second child. The last marathon I ran was the ING New York City Marathon in Nov 2007 for the Livestrong Foundation. I've kept running but not with the same fervor. Training for a marathon takes a lot of time away from family and since my husband just returned from his deployment, I haven't been in the mood to be away from him at all. I've promised myself this would be the year I get back in running shape and run another marathon in 2013. I would really like to run the Nike Woman's Marathon in San Francisco (crossing my fingers that I succeed in accomplishing this goal).
So, let me tell you how this blog came to be. I've been collecting makeup since I graduated from college and could afford to. I started with makeup from the grocery store and eventually discovered Sephora and became addicted to deals on QVC. When I met my husband he didn't help with my addiction. Instead, he made it worse by encouraging me to try new things. Throughout his latest deployment, we were able to Skype daily and, when we ran out of things to say but we didn't want to hang up, he would listen to me talk about makeup or what I read on someone's blog. He finally told me I should start my own blog. I suppose he figured if I can talk this much about makeup it wouldn't be a bad idea to write about it. I was hesitant because I'm not a writer! My husband was the editor of his college paper and I was embarrassed to share anything I write but he is teaching me a lot along the way while letting me be myself. I want to become a better writer because of this blog and practice makes perfect they say!
You won't find my blog entries to be very long. I prefer pictures. I notice when I visit other blogs, I don't read everything but find the information that answers questions that are important to me. Oh, and did I mention I like pictures! You'll also notice I don't assign ratings either. Everyone is different and it's not fair to pass judgement on a product based solely on my skin type. Also, I like to feel like I've made smart purchases and I don't think I'm alone in this. No one wants to feel like they just got ripped off after reading a self professed "authority." When it comes to makeup there are no real authorities so I'm happy to leave the final judgement to each person.
I believe you have to use what will work for you and I try to be honest when I describe these products. That's why if you've been reading my blog you've probably noticed that I tend to gush about the stuff I review. Most of it is because I tend to only buy stuff I will likely use. That means I'm usually happy with what I've bought...usually. I know it may seem crazy to some that I would buy so much makeup, but it's my only vice. At least I'm not smoking, right. I'm what some might call a new born blogger and nothing I've blogged about has been given to me. I have not been paid to blog about anything. If someone ever gives me something to consider, I will make it known. If that ever happens, I promise to give an honest opinion and full disclosure. I don't advertise on my posts, so I won't slant my opinion trying to sell you on something. I'll just be sharing what I love.
I hope you enjoy this blog and I hope to build new friendships with my readers.
