Chanel Peridot vs Deborah Lippman Swagga Like Us

Deborah Lippmann's new Mirrored Chrome Nail Lacquers are all the buzz now and the question I keep seeing pop up is, Is it a dupe for Chanel Peridot? In a word, NO.  The clues are actually in the name.

My mother-in-law's birthstone is a Peridot and that's a green stone.  So it stands to reason that you would expect to see some green in the color.  That is the big difference between the two.  Nobody "Swagga's" around wearing green.  When I think of Swagga, I think of bling and gold.  So while they may look very similar in the bottle, they swatch very differently.  Peridot is more green-toned whereas Swagga Like Us is a kin to brass that doesn't have a fresh polish to it.  Swagga Like Us looks like liquid metal and Peridot appears to have an underlying texture.  Both colors are very pretty but they are definitely not interchangeable.  If you see them swatched individually under different light it's easy to understand where the questions come from. I just recently purchased my bottle of Peridot from Nordstrom's website.  I thought they were limited edition and had been sold out, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it.  It's nice to know that Peridot hasn't made it on Pink Sith's  "_________ You Can't Have"...yet!  Check out her "Highlighter's You Can't Have."  Enjoy the cruel genius ;)

Deborah Lippmann's Swagga (left) is obviously gold and Peridot really shows off its green tones.

  3. I LOVE swagga like us (am planning a post on it soon!) but when I tried peridot months ago i thought it looked awful on me. Strange, isn't it? :) (peridot is also my birth stone, so I really wanted to like it, too!)

    1. I love it too! Yes, I think the finishes are different. I see a lot more brush strokes with the chanel color.
